Wild camping in Tafraoute, beautiful place, surrounded with red granite.

Day walk and buying melon next to the road.

Girl in traditional clothes in village next to Tafraoute. She was kindly giving us a tour and the red building in the middle is the mosque.

In this same village we visited a local berber family and drank tea. Came out that we knew their daughter already, Fatima, she has been coming to talk to us several times on the camp and she adores our dog and she wishes to be one day a vetenerian. Seems that children here has same dreams as we in western world.

Full Moon from last night in our campsite and four thousand stars!

Almond tree in blossom and on the right a funny moveble public telephone, never seen such a thing before!
As I told in the last update about Agadir and its four star camping, that is now (thank God!) behind us and now we are in four thousand stars camping in Tafraoute. A large area for wild camping and we have slept under these stars now three nights. After Agadir we drove further south to Sidi Ifni and walk around couple of hours wondering why people wanted to stay there, perhaps they have seen there something which we missed (?). We stayed one night in Aglou plage instead and it was a good choice. Small village on the coast with a very spacey campsite and our doggy got a “run of her life” on the beach. From Aglou plage we returned to Tiznit and stayed there one night. There is a new campsite with about twenty camper place, but surprisingly it was full and we and some other people got a place behind the main building and it was like being on the farm. Nothing against farms, I like them very much, but usually they are then spacey too and you don’t have to be parked side by side. Well, next morning early away, fill the waters and go! So that day brought us to Tafraoute and we love it! First of all the road from Tiznit to Tafraoute is a scenery route and when getting closer we could see the beauty of its surroundings. Full of mountains and rocks, reminded a bit Meteora from Greece (see the earlier pics on the blog, somewhere in September 2009), but then bigger area and all mountains and rocks are red granite. Tafraoute is known from its almond trees too and they are now about in flowers, beautiful! In 20 February they organize their yearly almond festival, which last several days with all-night singing and dancing. That would be nice to see!
Three nights wild camping behind and our solar panels got tested! Was really worth to buy them here, makes wild camping easier. Since this is a wild campsite, it access all the local people to “walk in”, so we get visitors several times a day, women and children asking for old clothes etc. If this bothers you, then this is definitely not a place for you.
We have to be again in Agadir or Essaouira somewhere 8-11 February so we hang around a bit in this neighborhood, not yet going to Merzouga which is the best spot for Sahara (as we have been told)…
Miten upeita koruja "pomosi" valmistaakaan! Myöhästyneet synttärionnet! Ja Sunnylle tietysti paljon kivoja uusia kavereita ja rapsutuksia!
